CORE TRAINING SUBJECTS

Each of the Sections below consists of a series of videos and demonstrations plus:

1)Core Training Worksheet which is downloadable when applicable.

(This worksheet is your Exercise Guide for the Subject.)

2)Relevent Materials advice (to be found on the video pages)

3)Downloadable images to use where relevent.  These are to get you started, but you will also probably have images of your own to try.

4)Downloadable Magazine articles by Heather where applicable – to suppliment your understanding.

Let me explain more about how these modules work together.    In short, they form the building blocks for progress.      The most important Modules (each representing a basic Core DIscipline in painting)  are the ones whithout which pregression would be slow.   They are Tonal Values and Composition.    Closely followed by ColourTheory, Perspective, and all drawing subjects which of course is where the portraiture comes in.

Ideally, with each exercise we need to remember the lessons of the exercises we have already done,  and add that knowledge to the new exercise.    To do that can be easy for some and less so for others but over the years I am well used to seeing students on my workshops taking notes.

So this is a good question.  Have you taken down notes of the important points for each module?     Yes it is possible to find a lot on the videos and the PDF’s but nothing replaces the physical act of making the odd note or two as a reminder.   Artists are individuals who remember different things and different times for a multitude of reasons.    Your list of things to remember might be very different  to someone elses.   If you havent already done so – you might want to start one.
